Overview
The Allianz Arena is the home of FC Bayern Munich, seating 75,000 beneath an inflated ETFE-pillow facade that glows red, blue, or white depending on which team is playing. Since opening in 2005, it has become one of the most recognisable stadiums in the world.
Highlights
- FC Bayern Museum: Interactive exhibits covering the club's 120+ year history and trophy cabinet.
- Stadium tour: 70-minute guided tour through the players' tunnel, pitch-side, and press room.
- Night glow: The facade's 2,760 air panels are individually lit—arrive at dusk for the full effect.
History
Designed by Herzog & de Meuron and opened for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Originally shared with TSV 1860 München, it is now exclusively Bayern's home.
