Kampa Island is a peaceful island in the Vltava formed by the Čertovka (Devil's Stream) canal, right beside Charles Bridge. Its riverside park, modern sculpture installations, and the Kampa Museum of contemporary art make it Prague's most romantic retreat.
The island's name possibly derives from 'campus' (field). For centuries it functioned as gardens and a mill district. Artists and intellectuals have long gravitated here.
