Overview
The Scarborough Bluffs are dramatic 90-meter sandstone cliffs along Lake Ontario's eastern shore — Toronto's own white cliffs, with a hidden beach below accessible by a steep trail or through Bluffer's Park.
Highlights
- Cliff Views: Stunning white sandstone cliffs rising 90 meters above the lake.
- Bluffer's Park Beach: A hidden beach at the base of the cliffs, accessible by road or trail.
- Kayaking: Paddling along the base of the cliffs offers a unique perspective.
History
The cliffs were named by Elizabeth Simcoe in 1793 after the cliffs of Scarborough, England. The bluffs are composed of geological layers dating back 12,000 years to the last Ice Age.
