Donauturm

Overview

The Donauturm (Danube Tower) is Vienna's tallest structure at 252 metres, built in 1964 on the edge of Donaupark. Its observation deck at 150 metres offers 360° views of the city, Danube, and on clear days, the Carpathian foothills.

History

Built for the 1964 Vienna International Garden Show in Donaupark, the tower has become a beloved landmark despite initially dividing opinion.

• Clear days: Check visibility before going—on haze-free days you can see 80 km.
• Combined with Donauinsel: Take the U1 to Alte Donau for a full Danube day.
• Duration: 30–45 minutes.
