Overview
Emirgan Park is a beloved Bosphorus-side park famous for its spectacular tulip displays in spring and three restored Ottoman pavilions. Set on a wooded hillside, it's one of Istanbul's most beautiful green spaces.
Highlights
- Istanbul Tulip Festival: Millions of tulips bloom here every April in a dazzling display of color.
- Three Pavilions: The Yellow (Sarı), Pink (Pembe), and White (Beyaz) pavilions serve as cafés and event spaces.
- Bosphorus Views: Paths lead down through the trees to waterfront viewpoints.
History
The park takes its name from Emirgüne, a 17th-century Persian prince to whom Sultan Murad IV granted the land. The tulip festival revives the Ottoman tradition of tulip cultivation that gave the 18th century its name: the Tulip Era.
