Filopappou Hill Park is a pine-covered green space opposite the Acropolis, with walking paths leading to ancient tombs, rock-cut monuments, and the so-called Prison of Socrates — a cave formation carved into the hillside rock.
The hill has been a sacred and recreational space since antiquity. The pine reforestation dates from the early 20th century. The 'Prison of Socrates' cave was likely an ancient home or storage area.
