Overview
Miradouro da Senhora do Monte is the highest viewpoint in central Lisbon, offering unobstructed 360° panoramas from a quiet garden terrace. Less touristed than other miradouros, it's a favourite sunset spot for locals.
Highlights
- 360° views: Unique vantage point taking in the castle, Ponte 25 de Abril, Tagus river, Alfama, and Mouraria.
- Quiet atmosphere: Less crowded than Miradouro da Graça or Santa Luzia.
- Small chapel: The tiny Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Monte next to the terrace.
History
The chapel was founded in 1147 and rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake. The viewpoint terrace was landscaped in the 20th century and has remained a low-key local favourite.
