Overview
Miradouro de Santa Luzia is a bougainvillea-draped terrace overlooking the Alfama rooftops and the Tagus, decorated with historical azulejo tile panels on its retaining walls.
Highlights
- Azulejo panels: Two large blue-and-white tile panels — one depicting the 1147 siege of Lisbon, the other a pre-earthquake Praça do Comércio.
- Bougainvillea pergola: The vine-covered terrace frames views over Alfama and the National Pantheon dome.
- Tram 28 passing: The iconic yellow tram rattles past just below the terrace.
History
The terrace sits beside the Igreja de Santa Luzia, decorated by the Knights of Malta. The viewpoint was formalized with decorative tiles and a pergola in the early 20th century.
