Holmenkollen Ski Jump

Overview

The Holmenkollen ski jump is one of Norway's most iconic landmarks, perched 417 metres above sea level with commanding views of the entire Oslo basin. It has hosted ski jumping events since 1892.

History

The first ski jumping competition was held here in 1892. The current futuristic steel-and-mesh structure was designed by JDS Architects and completed in 2010 for the 2011 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.

• Transport: Take T-bane line 1 to Holmenkollen station, a 30-minute scenic ride through the forest from the city centre.
• Combine: Walk through the surrounding forest trails after visiting the jump.
• Duration: 1–1.5 hours.
