Deutsches Technikmuseum

Overview

The Deutsches Technikmuseum is one of Europe's largest technology museums, housed in the former Anhalter railway depot. A Douglas C-47 Skytrain mounted on the roof — recalling the 1948–49 Berlin Airlift — has become a neighborhood landmark.

History

Founded in 1983, the museum consolidated Berlin's formerly scattered transport and technology collections. It occupies the grounds of the Anhalter Güterbahnhof, once one of Berlin's busiest freight stations.

Visitor Tips

• Spectrum annex: Budget extra time for the interactive science center (separate entrance, same ticket).
• Closed Mondays: Plan around the Monday closure.
• Duration: 2–3 hours.
