Overview

Ameya-Yokochō (often shortened to Ameyoko) is a bustling open-air market street running under and alongside the JR tracks between Ueno and Okachimachi stations. Originally a post-war black market, it has evolved into a vibrant bazaar mixing fresh food vendors, discount clothing stalls, and international street food.

• Fresh Seafood: Vendors shout prices for fresh crab, tuna, salmon roe, and sea urchin from ice-packed displays along the main alley.
