Overview

The Museu Marítim de Barcelona is housed in the Drassanes Reials (Royal Shipyards) — a magnificent series of Gothic stone naves built from the 13th century, one of the finest examples of Gothic civil architecture in the world.

Highlights

• The Building: The shipyards themselves are the main attraction — eight parallel stone naves where medieval galleys were built for the Crown of Aragon's fleet.
• Royal Galley Replica: A full-scale replica of the flagship of Don Juan of Austria at the Battle of Lepanto (1571).
• Maritime History: Charts, navigation instruments, ship models, and the story of Barcelona's relationship with the sea.
