The Langelinie Promenade is a historic and highly scenic waterfront walkway stretching from the Kastellet fortress up towards the city's cruise ship terminals. It is one of Copenhagen's favorite spots for a breezy Sunday stroll.

History
Originally a military area tightly restricted by the strict defense perimeter around Kastellet, the waterfront was finally opened to the public in the late 1800s. It quickly became the fashionable place for Copenhagen's bourgeoisie to see and be seen.
Visitor Tips
- Cruise Days: During the summer, large cruise ships dock at the northern end, making the path very crowded with tour groups.
- Cherry Blossoms: Springtime brings spectacular pink blooms to the nearby Langelinie Park behind the promenade.
- Duration: 45 minutes to walk the length.
