Grundtvig's Church is one of the most remarkable and recognizable churches in Scandinavia. Built entirely from six million yellow bricks, it is a rare, monumental example of Expressionist church architecture located in the Bispebjerg district.
Designed by architect Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint, it was built to honor N.F.S. Grundtvig, a famed Danish philosopher and hymn writer. Construction lasted from 1921 to 1940. When the architect died in 1930, his son Kaare Klint (a famous furniture designer) completed the project, including designing the building's iconic chairs.
