Overview
Founded in 1859, the Copenhagen Zoo is one of Europe's oldest zoological gardens. Set on the edge of Frederiksberg Gardens, it seamlessly blends historic architecture with cutting-edge, modern animal enclosures focused on conservation.

History
The zoo began with a modest collection of eagles, chickens, ducks, and foxes. Today it houses over 4,000 animals from all over the world. It is highly respected internationally for its scientific approach, breeding programs, and un-romanticized focus on animal welfare.
