King's Garden (Kongens Have)

The King's Garden, surrounding the beautiful Rosenborg Castle, is Copenhagen's oldest and most frequented park. Originally established as a private royal pleasure garden, it is now the city's favorite green oasis.

History

King Christian IV laid out the gardens in 1606 shortly before he began building Rosenborg Castle. It was designed in the Renaissance style with pavilions, espaliers, and intricate parterres, and it served as the royal family's private retreat until it was opened to the public in the 1770s.
