History
Opened in 2003 as the cultural anchor of the massive Roppongi Hills urban redevelopment project, conceived by developer Minoru Mori to transform Roppongi from a nightlife district into a cultural hub.
Visitor Tips
- Late Opening: The museum stays open until 10 PM (Tuesdays until 5 PM), making it an excellent evening activity combined with nighttime views.
- Louise Bourgeois Spider: Don't miss the giant "Maman" spider sculpture in the plaza below — a beloved Roppongi landmark.
