Overview

The Atelier des Lumières is Paris's first fully digital art center, housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century iron foundry in the 11th arrondissement. With 140 video projectors and a spatial sound system flooding 3,300 m² of industrial space, it transforms the work of iconic artists into breathtaking immersive environments.

History

The foundry on Rue Saint-Maur operated as a metalworks from 1835 until the 1980s. After years of disuse, it was transformed by Culturespaces and opened in April 2018. Since then, it has welcomed nearly 2.6 million visitors, becoming one of Paris's most-visited cultural venues.

Visitor Tips

• Book tickets online well in advance — the venue frequently sells out, especially on weekends.
• Not recommended for children under 6 due to the dark, loud immersive environment.
• Arrive at opening time for the best experience; the space fills up quickly and early visitors can move freely.
