Museums in Tbilisi

The Georgian National Museum on Rustaveli Avenue is Georgia’s largest museum complex, with collections spanning from 1.8-million-year-old Dmanisi hominid skulls to the Soviet Occupation exhibition.

The Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia is the main building of the Georgian National Museum on Rustaveli Avenue. It houses Georgia’s most important archaeological collections and the famous Gold Treasury.

The Open Air Museum of Ethnography displays traditional dwellings from every historic region of Georgia. Over 70 buildings are arranged along wooded trails on a forested hillside.

The Tbilisi History Museum (Karvasla) occupies a restored caravanserai in Old Town, documenting the city’s evolution from ancient settlement to modern capital.
