Shopping in Melbourne

The Block Arcade is one of Melbourne's most beautiful heritage shopping arcades, built in 1892 and inspired by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan. Its ornate interior is a jewel of Victorian-era commercial architecture.

Chapel Street runs a fashion-forward corridor through South Yarra, Prahran and Windsor. The upper stretch is lined with designer boutiques and luxury homewares stores, while the Windsor end tilts towards vintage clothing, independent labels and street-food stalls.

The Royal Arcade is Melbourne's oldest surviving arcade, opened in 1870, and the longest-running shopping arcade in Australia. Its distinctive black-and-white chequered floor and ornate cast-iron details make it an architectural landmark.
